Chanonry Point dolphin spot focus of access for all day on Black Isle
Efforts to make beaches more accessible to people of all abilities all of the time will continue at a Black Isle beauty spot next weekend.
The Chanonry Point access day - now in its third year - sees beach matting placed as close to the shoreline as possible to give access to people who use wheelchairs.
Taking place this Saturday, July 26 from 10.30am until 3pm, it will feature a beach wheelchair provided by Shopmobility, free car parking for blue badge holders and trishaws operated by volunteers for anyone needing help to get from the car park onto the picnic area at Chanonry point.
One of the organisers of the event, Debra Flook, said: “The access day had a very positive outcome over the past couple of years.

“Through holding the access days, we hope to draw attention for the need to make beaches more accessible for everyone, of all abilities.
“We hope Chanonry Point will someday be accessible to everyone on a daily basis and not just once a year. With a few improvements this could be possible, as many other beaches in the Highlands have achieved this.”
Charlie Philips from WDC (Whale and Dolphin Conservation), will be there to discuss any questions about the dolphins and other marine mammals.
Debra added that volunteers are always welcome, to help place the matting down on the morning of the event and to help to remove it at the end of the event.
