A packed nostalgia train ‘Lorded’ it through the strath last night on its three-day special through the Highlands.

Midland Pullman’s “Lord of the Isles” was fully booked for its special weekend break travelling over the scenic Highland line to Inverness.

Trainspotters along the line got a chance to go back in time, albeit it briefly, as the pullman elegantly made its way - keeping perfect time, in true nostalgic style - to Dalwhinnie and on through Badenoch and Strathspey, on a journey which took passengers over “impressive bridges with views of cascading waterfalls and tranquil lochs on this memorable tour with views of the Cairngorms, plus a return journey over the spectacular and remote route to Kyle of Lochalsh.”

Saturday’s trip included full English breakfast, light Luncheon and a four-course dinner.

Today saw a light brunch with afternoon tea to follow and tomorrow the nostalgic travellers will dig into a seven course ‘Taste of Scotland’ luncheon.

For a few hundred quid the travellers booked spectacular views through the Scottish Lowlands before crossing the legendary and iconic Forth Bridge, then joining the Highland line, climbing over magnificent mountain scenery and the highest railway summit in Britain at Drumochter before passing through Britain’s largest national park

Today they will be enjoying one of the ‘Great Railway Journeys of the World’ – the spectacular and scenic coast to coast highland route through Dingwall and over the high plateau at Achnasheen, “where great herds of wild deer roam, before descending to sea level and around the shore of beautiful Loch Carron to Kyle of Lochalsh, with stunning views across to the Isle of Skye”

Tomorrow they will make their homeward way past Culloden and over Slochd Summit, taking in Aviemore before going on through Badenoch and the south.
