Badenoch dippers see in 2025 in bold bathe at Kincraig’s loch
A fantastic, fearless crowd turned out this morning to waste no time dipping into 2025 at Loch Insh.
The temperature had dipped down before they could all arrive but the rains which deterred so many other revellers from turning out across Scotland on Hogmanay had seen to it that the level of the loch had risen so much that the beach where the dippers traditionally gathered had all but disappeared.
That left 80 swimmers to their own devices when it came to rushing into the ice-cold waters. That seemed to make the challenge even more daunting, with everyone dipping in small, separate groups.
All the same, it was a bold and brilliant effort by the gang and as a delighted organiser Jacalyn Freshwater told the Strathy: “The event raised no less than £800 for Alvie Primary School.
“We’re so grateful for everyone who turned out.
“It was a lovely morning with a few snow showers to set the scene - and the challenge was made all the easier by the amazing Cairngorm Sauna to dip in and out of!
The dippers all seemed to thrive on the experience and the adventure was generally regarded as the perfect start to the new year.
