The deadline for this year’s Highlands and Islands Food & Drink Awards has been extended.

Entries will be accepted from food and drink businesses across the Highlands and Islands and within the Cairngorms National Park up to 5pm next Friday (May 9).

Quintin Stevens, a member of the awards’ committee, said: "We know how busy it can be at this time of year, and we’re keen to encourage as many as businesses as possible to enter the awards.

"Therefore, we’ve extended the entry deadline, so we hope this gives a lifeline to those businesses who have struggled to find time to complete and send in an entry form."

The event is designed to recognise and reward businesses which are displaying best practice, achieving exceptional standards and pushing boundaries in a key growth industry.

The 12 categories include New Business, Healthier Food & Drink, Best Marketing Initiative, Food & Drink Business Growth, and Young Shining Star. Entry is free and businesses can enter as many relevant categories as they wish.

Finalists will be announced in June, with the event taking place at Kingsmills Hotel, in Inverness, on October 24.
