Dalraddy Holiday Park proves to be the Perfect Pitch
A campsite located just south of Aviemore has been named the best in the Highlands by Channel 4 show, The Perfect Pitch.
The owners of Dalraddy Holiday Park situated just three miles south of Aviemore are delighted to have won the accolade and say it has been the icing on the cake to what has been a tremendous summer season on the park.
Dalraddy Holiday Park which boasts 103 camping pitches, 73 chalets, 65 static caravans, a play park, site shop, archery, quad biking and an adventure train is owned by Jamie Williamson of Alvie Estate.
It was visited by two couples and a family who also spent time at 4 other campsites in the Highland region.
However, it was Dalraddy Holiday Park, set in the heart of the Cairngorms that took home the winner’s plaque.
Jamie said: “We are absolutely delighted to have won this award, we are thrilled. A huge thank you to the team at Afanti Media, Channel 4 and the people who visited us. It was a lot of fun.
"Thanks also to Debbie and Tim from Cairngorm Quad Treks who are located at Dalraddy Holiday Park for helping to put on such a good experience for the campers.
"The hard work from the whole team has clearly paid off.”
Jamie whose family owns Alvie & Dalraddy Estates which boasts a range of other activities such as zip wires, clay pigeon shooting, fishing, paint ball games, gorge walking, survival courses and horse riding said the award has come at the end of a very busy summer season.
He said: “Dalraddy is open all year round, but as we head into Autumn and look back over what we have achieved at the height of spring and summer, this really is the icing on the cake for us.
"It has been an exceptionally busy year and hopefully this award will help secure bookings for next year to keep it that way.”
Debbie Williams, activities manager for Dalraddy and who owns Cairngorm Quad Treks with her partner Tim (Davey), helped Jamie and the Dalraddy team organise activities for the eager campers.
These included a mini Highland games, paintballing and an evening of traditional Scottish entertainment with a fiddler and piper.
Debbie said: “We are so happy to have secured this award. The campers that we hosted were all so lovely and we are glad that they enjoyed what were arranged for them.
"Aviemore and the Cairngorms is an absolutely stunning area to visit and Dalraddy is the perfect location to enjoy either relaxing on site, taking part in the activities we offer or exploring that little bit further afield.”
The local holiday park was up against Aberfeldy Caravan Park, Blair Castle Caravan Park, Ben Nevis Holiday Park and Barrow Campsite near Nairn before the final scores were revealed a few minutes ago.
The series which has aired throughout this week was narrated by former Gavin and Stacey and Love Actually star Joanna Page.
