Strathspey sparkles under fantastic northern lights

It's one of a series of spectacular shots taken by Heather Lawrie Taylor, of Aviemore.

"Last night's Northern Lights," she said.

"We took a wee trip up the hill.

"These were taken on my phone, with a four to 10 second exposure."

Plenty of great shots have been doing the rounds since last night's spectacular northern show courtesy of brilliantly clear skies.

An aurora is a natural light display in Earth's sky, predominantly seen in high-latitude regions.

Auroras display dynamic patterns of brilliant lights that appear as curtains, rays, spirals, or dynamic flickers covering the entire sky.
