Mystery surrounded today’s sudden closure in Aviemore Retail Park of one of its popular coffee houses.

Costa’s door was shut after a very busy Wednesday.

Today just a note appeared telling customers that the business had closed ‘until further notice’.

At 4.30 this afternoon a company spokesperson explained the situation to the Strathy: “The store was closed for maintenance but is now back open and trading as normal.

The coffee house was one of the first businesses to open at the 50,550 sq ft complex on Santa Claus Drive which opened in 2017 with six tenants including Aldi, The Snug Speyside Distillery Visitor Experience, Home Bargains and a Tiso outdoor experience store.

It originally included a Superdrug outlet but that became vacant when the company moved out. Since then there have been moves to open the strath’s first McDonald’s restaurant but the Strathy awaits confirmation of what stage the project is at.
