Community trust board's set to be strengthened

The trust bidding to take eventual community control of Cairngorm Mountain could have a much bolstered board by the end of today.

Aviemore and Glenmore Community Trust's AGM is taking place virtually this evening due to the current Covid restrictions and is open to all members.

There are five directors due to be proposed at the meeting to join the board.

AGCT chairman Duncan Swarbrick said: "I’m delighted to say that we’ve had five nominations for directors which will really strengthen the board.

"I think it’s really important that we continually try to get new blood onto the board."

The new directors are in addition to two recently co-opted board members and if approved by members will take the board to nine members strong.

Highlands and Islands Enterprise area manager James Gibbs, and head of property and infrastructure Dave MacLeod both plan to attend the AGM.

The pair will provide an update on Cairngorm Mountain on behalf of the owners and answer questions.

The AGM gets under way at 7pm.

Anyone interested in getting involved with AGCT should email info@aviemoreglenmoretrust.org or visit the trust's Facebook page.
