Badenoch takes the cake for heritage festival
A spectacular two-week celebration of past and living culture in one of Scotland's most fascinating areas is well under way.
The Badenoch Festival, with a packed programme of talks, walks, treks, tours, sport and song was launched on Friday (the cake was sensational!) and continues until Saturday, September 22.
Welcoming everyone to the first festival of its kind – bringing together the communities of Laggan, Dalwhinnie, Newtonmore, Kingussie, Kincraig and Insh – Karen Derrick announced an exciting programme of over 60 events.
The chief officer of Voluntary Action in Badenoch and Strathspey explained: "We're celebrating Baenoch's unique connections to landscape, Highland community and the deep roots of storytelling in the Cairngorms National Park/
You'll find a launch report in tomorrow's Strathy and all the details of the remaining programme can be found at badenochfestival@vabs.org.uk or by phoning 077406 80216.
