Co-op connection pays dividends for Badenoch and Strathspey community groups
The work of the Dulaig Park Renovation Project in Grantown has been boosted by funding awards of almost £7,500.
The Co-op has given £5,409 from their Community Fund, which is raised when cardholders buy certain items from the store.
The Dulaig Park scheme was one of three local causes to benefit from the fund’s latest round.
And it has been selected for a second time, ensuring that the scheme will receive another payment next year.
Meanwhile, further support for the Dulaig has come from the Pump House Trust, which has awarded the group £2000.
The trust supports charities and project connected with community development, especially those focussed on social inclusion.
The money will go towards the second phase of the project – landscaping and reseeding the playing field. New goals are also planned.
Chair Sheena Corcoran said: “Thank you to everyone who supported Dulaig through shopping at Co-op. Along with the grant from the Pumphouse, this is a fantastic amount to add to our funds.
“These funds have given us a great start to fundraising for the playing field.”
The funding target for new play equipment was achieved in October when the committee announced they had raised £62,500.
The items will be ordered from equipment provider Kompan in the next few weeks.
Installation is expected in late Spring 2022.
It’s been another phenomenal year for local Co-op customers in the strath, who have once again put their hands deep into their pockets to help a wide range of deserving causes.
The other beneficiaries in the latest funding round are Home-Start Aviemore (£1,110); Badenoch and Strathspey Community Transport Company (£1293); Strathspey Girls and Ladies Football Club (£882); Kingussie Bowling Club (£3,614); Newtonmore Playpark (£4,978); Kingussie Gymnastics Club (£3,465); Grantown Health Centre Equipment Fund (£5,049) and Grantown Playgroup (£4,538).
