A climber has been airlifted to hospital after suffering what have been described as 'bad' injuries in a fall in the Northern Corries in the Cairngorms.

The woman was climbing a route called Wave Length when the accident occurred earlier this afternoon.

Members of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue team along with Glenmore Lodge staff and the MCA Rescue helicopter attended at the scene.

CMRT deputy leader Willie Anderson said: "A female climber took a fall of maybe 30 metres on a route called Wave Length and suffered some injuries to her leg and back.

"The accident occurred at about 1.30pm and Cairngorm 151 along with guides from Glenmore Lodge and around 20 members of the Cairngorm team attended.

"The woman is conscious but has suffered some bad injuries."

The injured climber was airlifted to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness in the past half hour.

The operation has been concluded and the rescue team members are back on their way to their Inverdruie base.
