A climber was airlifted to hospital earlier this morning after plunging more than 60 feet from a peak overlooking Newtonmore.

The man in his 30s was climbing at Creag Dhu when he fell and suffered a head injury.

The alarm was raised around 8.38am and members of Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team were sent.

The Inverness-based Coastguard search and rescue helicopter airlifted the man to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

His condition is unknown.
