Tomintoul talks on climate change

Members of the Tomintoul and Glenlivet community are being invited to contribute to a local discussion on climate change at three events organised by the local development trust.

"Climate Conversation" events will include a discussion about ways the local community can reduce the emissions that cause climate change and prepare for a changing climate.

They are part of a series initiated by the Scottish Government.

Feedback will aid the development of a better understanding of what people feel about the actions needed and could lead to practical action on climate change priorities.

The conversations have been organised with support from the Climate Challenge Fund Development Grant scheme. A young person’s group will take place at Tomintoul & Glenlivet Discovery Centre on Monday, February 10, from 2-3.30pm.

A general group will take place at Glenlivet Hall on Thursday, February 13, 6.30-8 pm and a land use & farming group will meet at the centre on Monday, February 17, 6.30-8 pm.

Refreshments will be provided.

The project has been awarded a grant of £500 from the Scottish Government’s Climate Challenge Fund.

Garry Ford, Climate Challenge Fund Development Officer for Keep Scotland Beautiful commented: “Climate change affects all of us so we encourage people to take advantage of this local opportunity to put their views and feelings forward.

“Scotland is at the forefront of action on climate change and feedback from this local discussion will support the Scottish Government to develop a better understanding of what people feel about the actions needed to cope with climate change”.
