An NHS Highland spokesperson said this afternoon: "We can confirm that this has recently been distributed within the Highland Council area. We have had no reports of any damage to the product in our area."

The local Health Information and Resources team are able to identify where the vitamins have been distributed and are contacting them all individually to advise them of the recall.

All those in possession of them are being asked to check the LOT number on their supply.

"Colleagues have also been asked to stop distribution of product with this LOT number.

"If you do have an affected batch please safely dispose of the vitamins at home.

"You can contact our Health Information and Resources team to request more vitamins – hirs.mailbox@nhs.scot or 01463 704647."

NHS Highlad understands the recall could cause concern for some.

Of the 80,000 distributed across Scotland there have only been a small number of cases reported, none of which are in Highland.
