Celtic fans caught with cocaine at Caley match
Two teenage Celtic football fans attending a match at the Caley Thistle Stadium were caught in possession of cocaine in the loo, Inverness Sheriff Court has heard.
A fan using the toilets at the match between Terry Butcher’s side and the Glasgow giants on February 9 this year were suspicious of their behaviour and alerted the police, depute fiscal Laura Ryan told Sheriff Andrew Miller.
Officers went into the toilets and the two youths, one still at school, were searched and small quantities of the Class A drug were found.
Ciaran Gallagher (19), of Vaila Street, and 17 year-old Paul Smith of Culmin Drive, both Glasgow, admitted possession of the drug.
Solicitor Simon Gilmour, representing both Gallagher and Smith, who were not in court, said they both Celtic fans and were at the away end of the ground.
"They were caught red-handed trying to take the substance they hid in their socks."
He said Gallagher was a cleaner while Smith was starting his sixth year at secondary school.
Sheriff Andrew Miller fined both £140.
