Carrbridge grants up for grabs to provide light after Covid





A recovery fund will help Carrbridge youngsters bounce back from the impact of Covid-19 with financial support over the coming months.

Carr-Bridge Ahead has committed £5000 to the programme.

The community company manages the cashpot generated by the village’s Carve Carrbridge and Golden Spurtle events, along with the community benefit Tom nan Clach wind farm payments.

Group spokesman Doug Jeffrey told the Strathy: “The benefits will be shared by children and young people aged between eight and 18 as they move on from the impact of Covid-19 on their lives and the severe restrictions that they have had to live through during the period of the pandemic.

“We’re so conscious of the effects of the pandemic on young social lives that we wanted to use some of our village resources to ensure that they have the best of the rest of the summer and autumn they can.”

Carr-Bridge Ahead has suspended its previous bursary scheme and replaced it with a Children and Young People’s Recovery Fund. Awards of 75 per cent of total costs and up to £500 are on offer.

They include outings and excursions with children from more than one family and fees for courses towards personal advancement, new skills and training courses.
