Call to use your vote in the Highlands
The electorate in the three Highland constituencies for the UK Parliamentary general election are being reminded that their vote matters.
Voting begins this Thursday with all polling stations in the strath and wider region opening their doors at 7am and remaining open until 10pm.
To mark your vote in the general election simply mark a single X (cross) against your choice of candidate.
Clear instructions will be on display in every polling booth and trained polling station staff will be on hand to answer any questions.
The general election count will take place overnight on Thursday 12 December, starting as soon after 10pm as possible, at Inverness Leisure Centre sports hall.
Postal voters who have missed the post are reminded that they can hand in their General Election postal ballot papers to any of the Highland polling stations up until 10pm on Thursday.
Returning Officer Donna Manson said: "Voters should taking their poll card to the polling station but don’t worry if it is forgotten as you can still vote without it – just take yourself and vote."
A council spokeswoman said: "Running the election for all three Highland constituencies is a huge operation involving many council staff from across the region.
"There will therefore be a reduced level of support for some non-essential council services on December 12 and 13 while staff focus on election duties."
