The games, which officially kicks off the season in Badenoch and Strathspey and includes the time-honoured Macpherson Clan Gathering, is due to take place on Saturday, August 3.

But committee chairman Tom Robertson has told the Strathy: "On behalf of the committee, I'm appealing for assistance in running the event."

He went on: "Any help, whether by financial donation, assistance in setting up the field from Sunday, July 28 and every evening thereafter, or in carrying out one of the many tasks on games day will be very much appreciated.

"The committee are very well aware that only by the generous help of so many local people in previous years has a successful and enjoyable day's entertainment for the many competitors, locals and visitors to the valley been possible."

He can be contacted at Knockmalloch, Newtonmore: knockmalloch@onetel.com
