Cairngorms to star in new Scottish movie
Just when you thought it was safe to go out into the Cairngorms...
Watch out for "Wandering Rose", a film which is going to put the "wilder" into the beloved local wilderness.
Loch Morlich and the Cairngorm Mountains are the backdrop for a new feature film directed by Coz Greenop.
For two weeks the film crew, featuring Carina Birrell and David Wayman in the lead roles, have been filming in well-known locations in the Rothiemurchus Forest, although for the precise areas you’ll have to catch the film when it’s released.
Says Greenop: "The landscape is a third character in the film – at times startling, astonishing, beguiling, then suddenly brooding and foreboding..."
Wandering Rose is a thriller with genuine shock moments about a couple who spend a weekend in the Cairngorms, travelling around in their motorhome.
"The weather has been perfect for us last week and the midges extremely kind," said location manager Theo Wightman.
"When you’re standing around whilst the crew set up shots you get lots of opportunity to relax and enjoy these wonderful surroundings".
Birrell, born in Edinburgh, has had feature roles in numerous films in the last five years and her co-star Wayman has just finished filming an Anglo-French rom-com due for screening early next year.
The movie is due for release in November next year.
