The RZSS Highland Wildlife Park will be celebrating International Polar Bear Day a day earlier tomorrow (Friday) and visitors will be able to learn more about this fascinating and at-risk species.

The attraction will set up an information hub at the female polar bear Victoria’s viewing area ahead of International Polar Bear Day which is celebrated globally.

Visitors will be able to come to find out more about the issues surrounding polar bears in the wild and what they can do to help them.

There will be a "How green are you?" quiz, where participants will be able to find out whether they can do more to reduce the effects of climate change, as well as a polar bear quiz, with the chance to win a bronze adoption of the winner’s favourite animal at the wildlife park.

The information station will also include a touch table with bio-facts, such as skins and skulls of polar and tundra animals, showing how these species are adapted for survival in the Arctic. The information station will be running from 11am until 3.30pm.

International Polar Bear Day is an annual event organised by Polar Bears International to raise awareness of the conservation status of the increasingly threatened polar bear, as well as to inspire people to care about the Arctic and its connection to the global climate.
