An avid ski fan has taken to the Cairngorms slopes for the 23rd consecutive month despite the chronic lack of snow

Interpid skier Helen Rennie said: " It is the smallest patch of snow I've ever tried to turn on!"

The Inverness woman managed two linked turns on the patch of snow in Ciste Mheared.

Helen is hoping for fresh snow to lay some more tracks before the month is out.

The previous day CairnGorm Mountain ranger Attila Kish had the opportunity to view fresh snowdrifts on Ben MacDui left over following Sunday's atrocious weather.

He went up in an RAF SeaKing helicopter on the last day of August to help with the removal of surplus material from the rebuilding of the Fords of Aon Refuge.

The work was carried out by volunteers from the Mountaineering Council of Scotland and the Mountain Bothies Association.

Last season skiing at CairnGorm Mountain started on November 13 and over 120,000 skiers and snowboarders enjoyed snowsports over the course of the season.
