Cairngorm ski resort open for start of half term holidays
The slopes at CairnGorm Mountain are up and running again following the overdue arrival of more snow midweek.
CairnGorm Mountain opened Thursday and Friday this week for snowsports and skiing and snowboarding will be on offer for the start of the English half-term holidays.
Janette Jansson, CairnGorm Mountain general manager, said: "Obviously, we are delighted that we have been able to open for snowsports this week. It is great news for skiers, snowboarders and for businesses in and around Aviemore.
"The team at CairnGorm Mountain is working really hard to get the slopes ready for everyone to enjoy.
"We know that the weather at the mountain can be unpredictable so whilst we have our fingers crossed for more snow, our focus is on maximising the current conditions so we can get as many people enjoying snowsports as possible."
A resort spokeswoman said that there was skiing on offer to the mid-station.
He said: "The snow was in great condition on Thursday – very dry and powdery and the mountain opened the Ptarmigan Bowl, a route to the middle via the Traverse, 105, Zig Zags to the M1 lift and the Middle Platform.
"Thanks to light snowfall and drifting overnight the White Lady, Ptarmigan Bowl, and a route to the middle via the Traverse, 105, Zig Zag and Gun-barrel were open for snowsports yesterday.
"Uplift was via the mountain railway, Ptarmigan T - Bar, Polar Express and the M1 Poma."
