CairnGorm Mountain set to welcome more skiers
The CairnGorm Mountain ski resort expects to continue to build on the 75,000 skiers and boarders who have already visited this season, well beyond last season’s total for the whole season.
Colin Kirkwood, the resort’s marketing manager, sais the current now cover at the resort remains good across the mountain on all runs with spring-like conditions.
He went on: “The snow is firm to hard first thing and softening as the temperatures rise. With intermittent snow showers and colder temperatures forecast the resort expects to continue to build on the 75000 skiers and boarders who have already visited this season, well beyond last season’s total for the whole season.
“Amongst those expected at the resort this weekend are competitors in the Scottish Children’s Championships and the Bairns’ Bucket which have attracted a record number of entries (now closed) this year. The competitions will take place on the White Lady piste which will be closed to other skiers until mid afternoon on Saturday and Sunday but all lifts are currently operating and most runs are expected to be open.”
Last weekend saw the MV festival hit the hills at CairnGorm with DJs from the music and comedy festival playing sets at the ski resort in the afternoon as skiers and boarders enjoyed some snowsports. Additionally Skirider the manufacturers of a new snow ‘scooter’ suitable for all abilities were offering all-comers the opportunity to try out their scooters on a slalom course set up for the occasion.
