An internal enquiry has been launched after one of the new Cairngorm mountain carts crashed on Saturday.

Details of the incident are still unclear but the Strathy understands the casualty of the incident was airlifted by the Scottish Air Ambulance service directly to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment.

“We have no further details.”

Ms Smith added: “Our internal procedures are underway to assess the nature of the incident.”

When the new facility was launched the company promised its customers ‘The ride of your life’:

“Your adrenaline experience begins at over 600 metres above sea level where you’ll be transported in an off road ‘Unimog’ up to the start of the track.

“Here at over 900 metres above sea level you’ll enjoy spectacular mountain views before joining our guide for a daring downward descent in a three wheel cart.”
