The boss of the Cairngorms National Park Board is urged local firms and other interested parties to make sure they have their input into an economic blueprint for the region.

Time is starting to run out for responses to the Economic Diversification and Development Strategy to be drawn up by the park authority and Cairngorms Business Partnership.

The public can respond to the 20 questions on the strategy by visiting www.visitcairngorms.co/surveys - before Monday April 7.

Mr Duncan Bryden, park board convener, said: "All our eggs in one basket is not an entirely fair description of the Cairngorms National Park’s economy – it is more one largish basket – tourism and several smaller ones like farming, construction and the public sector.

"Foot and mouth horrors, the collapse of the construction industry and a public spending squeeze show us eggs can break.

"We need the public to tell us what they think about the strategy and the proposed six ways of improving the local economy and caring for the park by both doing what we do better and attracting new activities."
