Ryvoan Bothy will close for three-day work party
A popular Strathspey bothy is to close for three days next week while it gets a new roof - and anyone who wants to help is invited.
A work party will head to Ryvoan, about an hour’s hike into the Cairngorms from the Glenmore Forest Car Park outside Aviemore, on Friday 24, aiming to complete the job by the end of Sunday 26.
It’s the third in a series of work parties aimed at maintaining the much-used and vital stopping place for Cairngorms walkers.
Whether the roof job gets finished will depend on the weather - which can, to put it mildly, can be somewhat unpredictable up there.
“If you would like to help at this workparty please contact Andrew McNicoll for more information and to register interest,” said a spokeserson for the Mountain Bothies Association.
The MBA encourages people of all ages and abilities to help maintain our bothies (anyone under 16 must, however, be accompanied by a ‘responsible adult’).
