Book your books as two libraries in Badenoch and Strathspey set to reopen
The libraries in Grantown and Kingussie are due to reopen next week.
High Life Highland is advising customers that eight of its libraries will resume operations in the coming days.
The libraries on the upper floor of the Badenoch Centre in Kingussie and at the Townhouse in Grantown will reopen next Wednesday (September 30).
Principal libraries manager Julie Corcoran said: “HLH has been delighted to be able to open a number of libraries across the Highlands since the regulations around the lockdown were relaxed.
“We have been offering a ‘click and collect’ service at libraries throughout the region for the last number of weeks and have been delighted with the feedback received from customers making use of the services."
Announcing the next phases of libraries to start the same service, the library manager said: “Between now and the end of the month, we will be reopening libraries in Kingussie, Broadford, Brora, Cromarty, Grantown, Muir of Ord, Portree and Tain.
“This means that staff previously placed on furlough leave will be brought back to support the operation of these locations.
Explaining how the system works, Ms Corcoran said: “All our systems are full compliance with Scottish Government guidelines offering as Covid-safe environment as we can.
“Customers can reserve books by contacting their local library by email or telephone. They will be allocated a slot to collect their books, with a similar method operating to return their books and pick up new ones.
“We are looking forward to welcome many of regular customers back to these eight libraries as they re-open over the next few days.”
Steve Walsh, chief executive at High Life Highland, said: “This is yet another example of HLH’s ongoing bounceback.
"It is really fantastic to see more libraries coming on-stream in a safe and secure way, allowing our customers to re-engage with a service that we know many have been badly missing.”
