Police have confirmed that a body has been recovered following a house fire in Aviemore this morning.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze at the property in Strathspey Avenue at the north end of the village at around 8.34am.

The fire has now been extinguished and the house has been cordoned off whilst emergency services are still in attendance.

An adjoining property had to be evacuated as a safety precaution.

Police Scotland can confirm that a body has been located within the address and at this time the identity of the deceased is unknown.

A spokesperson said: "A joint police and fire investigation will be carried out in the coming days to confirm the identity of the body and the likely cause of the fire."
