Body of missing fell runner Chris Smith has been found
The body of missing Team GB fell runner Chris Smith has been found.
The 43-year-old went missing in Perthshire on Tuesday afternoon after setting off for a run whilst on holiday in the Invervar area.
The dad-of-two had planned to run four Munros in Glen Lyon before returning back two hours later.
Police Scotland said in a statement: "We can confirm that at around 11.50am today the body of a man was found near to Meall Garbh in the Glenlyon area.
"Formal identification has yet to take place however the family of missing 43-year-old Chris Smith has been informed.
"Enquiries remain ongoing and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
Tayside Mountain Rescue Team, the police and a Coastguard helicopter had been scouring the area for him.
Mr Smith, originally from Aberdeenshire, had been in holiday from the family home in Haywards Heath in West Sussex. He was a member of Thames Valley Harriers.
Mr Smith has represented Great Britain in international mountain running competitions and in 2016 helped Team GB win bronze in the European Mountain Running Championships in Italy.
