Loch Ness luxury holiday cottages unveiled by Scotland’s wealthiest man Anders Holch Povlsen as conservation company WildLand continues development of estate lands around his Highland haven Aldourie Castle

Scotland’s wealthiest man is launching three new luxury holiday cottages near Loch Ness.

Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen’s Aviemore-based conservation company WildLand has restored the houses as private rental properties on the 500-acre Aldourie Estate.

Holidaymakers will be asked to stump up an eye-watering minimum of £720 a night for Tigh Na Coille Cottage, a former manse boasting spectacular views across the loch and castle grounds.

It has four bedrooms, two lounges and a dining room.

Prices start at £470 per night for the two-bedroom Gatehouse Cottage, a miniature version of the estate’s prime 300-year old baronial dwelling Aldourie Castle.

The three-bedroom Garden Cottage is set next to the estate’s walled garden and costs from £500 a night.

The latest renovations follow work completed on two other nearby properties, the Factor’s Cottage and Ivy Cottage, as well as the castle.

Guests renting the cottages will be able to take advantage of exclusive WildLand offers including private fireside whisky tastings and music from Highland pipers at sunset.

Povlsen is committing significant investment to the Aldourie and Dores area, where he has purchased the Dores Inn and embarked on renovation work, with ambitious plans for expansion and diversification.

The A-listed castle, which hosted Mr Povlsen’s 50th birthday party where US music legend Lionel Richie performed, has 12 luxury suites, a great hall and a billiards room.

The fashion tycoon, who bought the castle and grounds for £15 million in 2015, owns more than 220,000 acres of land in Scotland in all, including 13 estates in areas such as Caithness and Sutherland.

He is said to have fallen in love with the country on a boyhood family fishing trip.

With a fortune that grew by £974 million in the past year to £7.7 billion, he was named as Scotland’s wealthiest man in the latest Sunday Times Rich List.

His wealth primarily stems from the Danish fashion retailer Bestseller, founded by his father Troels. He also holds significant stakes in other companies, including ASOS and Zalando.

WildLand’s environmentally conscious intent is well-documented and the firm describes itself as “Europe’s most ambitious conservation project” with plans to rewild the Scottish Highlands and revive its communities over 200 years.
