Bid to boost Cairngorms on the internet
A new partnership between Boat of Garten and the Cairngorms Business Partnership has resulted in the launch of a brand new website for the village.
The Boat of Garten website was in need of refreshing, and community leaders entered talks with the private sector led tourism group the Cairngorms Business Partnership.
After discussions the Boat of Garten Community Company (BoGCC) agreed their website could be the pilot for a new network of community websites the CBP hope to introduce across the Cairngorms National Park.
The site boatofgarten.com utilises the latest design, technology and content management systems. The deal has also provided members of BoGCC training on how to get the best from the site.
Tourism Minister Fergus Ewing MSP said: "I am very pleased that this website is going ahead. This will be a great source of information for residents and visitors alike, as to what is happening in and around Boat of Garten.
"I congratulate the Cairngorms Business Partnership on this initiative, and hope that the park will support many others of this type. "
Anna Barton, a member of the BoGCC, said: "Boat of Garten is delighted to be the first community to take part in this new initiative with CBP, which has given us the opportunity to rebuild boatofgarten.com
"The partnership with CBP will enable the village to take advantage of future technological developments and ensure that our website is always up-to-date.
"Local groups are able to manage their own pages and upload details of their own events, which will guarantee publicity not only via BoatofGarten.com but also via visitcairngorms.com."
The community retains full editorial rights and control and hosting of the site and are responsible for the upkeep of all community, village hall, social pages and images used on the site.
Mr Alan Rankin, chief executive at the not-for-profit CBP, said: "We are delighted to have been able to work with the Boat of Garten Community Company who are a very positive and progressive group of people.
"Right at the heart of this work we hope to see the customer experience of visiting websites in the area improved and as a result more likely to find the information they want."
