The strath’s invaluable charity community transport service has won a £60,000 boost from the Bank of Scotland Foundation.

Badenoch and Strathspey Community ConnXions is one of 24 Scottish charities to benefit from a vital injection of funding in the festive season from the Edinburgh-based independent charity, solely funded by Lloyds Banking Group.

The fund has awarded each local charity a share of £1,440,000 through its multi-year grants programme, Enable.

A spokesperson explained: “Enable is an innovative joint grants programme in partnership with Lloyds Banking Group, designed to enhance community volunteering efforts.

“The programme provides funding to eligible charities for projects that rely on volunteers, with Lloyds Banking Group colleagues across Scotland contributing their time and expertise to help deliver on projects and offer support.”

The initiative allows charities to apply for grants ranging from £30,000 to £90,000 over three years for various volunteering projects, costs, and initiatives.

Also among the latest grant recipients are Befrienders Highland, who have been awarded £90,000 to extend their essential service throughout the region.

Donald MacKechnie, chair of Bank of Scotland Foundation, said, “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Lloyds Banking Group and involving colleague volunteers through our Enable grant programme.

“Scotland’s charities have already seen great success with volunteering projects, and we look forward to enhancing local community volunteering even further throughout the country”.
