Foridians are heading to help start Badenoch and Strathspey games season

The strath’s Highland Games season is on its way – and so are some very excited Americans.

The City of Mount Dora Pipe Band based in Florida is already rehearsing for its major role in the Newtonmore gathering, which will set the ball rolling for a summer of great events on August 5.

“We can’t wait to be there,” said Bonnie Macpherson, who will be joining the famous Clan march in the afternoon along with a good many others from around the world.

“The band’s tuning up already!” she told the Strathy, explaining that the band formed in 2017.

“Being able to perform in the country which has influenced us so much is, for many of us, a once in a lifetime opportunity.

“The band is looking forward to pairing up with the Blairgowrie and Rattray Pipe Band as we join them and other local pipe bands for the games opening.”
