Badenoch MSP to hold first ever online constituency surgery
Badenoch MSP Kate Forbes will hold her first-ever online surgery later this week using the web meeting platform Zoom.
Throughout the year the SNP MSP holds a series of surgeries across her sprawling Skye, Lochaber and Badenoch constituency to give locals the opportunity to meet with her and raise any issues.
With the lockdown restrictions unlikely to be lifted in the near future, the Badenoch MSP decided to take her surgeries online so that she could remain as accessible as she could to constituents.
Phone appointments are also available for anyone who does not have a computer and the internet at home.
Ms Forbes MSP said: “Normally when I’m in Badenoch I would hold surgeries at locations like the community centre in Aviemore, Laggan Village Hall and the Badenoch Centre in Kingussie to allow local people to meet with me and raise any matter they desire.
“With the coronavirus outbreak and resulting restrictions, it looks like it will be impossible to hold such surgeries in the near future.
“Despite having one of the biggest areas to cover in Scotland, I’ve always tried to be as accessible as possible to constituents – so I thought doing a surgery by Zoom is in keeping with that.
“Already many of the slots have been booked up, and I hope to announce details of my next Zoom surgery in due course.
“Of course phone appointments are still available, and I am picking up letters and emails as usual.”
The surgery will take place on Friday afternoon.
