Badenoch MSP says wear your trainers

Badenoch MSP Dave Thompson is sporting his trainers on Commonwealth Day and is encouraging others to do the same.

Sport Your Trainers is a national campaign, led by the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games Organising Committee.

Organiers are urging everyone across the country to wear their trainers on Commonwealth Day this Monday (March 12).

Mr Thompson is also suggesting that participants adopt a healthy challenge.

He said: "The fast-approaching Commonwealth Games in Scotland is an incentive to get healthy. Locals should think about taking up a new sport or take the stairs instead of the lift."

Over one million people across Scotland and the Commonwealth have pledged to sport their trainers on Commonwealth Day so far.
