Dramatic pictures today help to explain the origin of the Scottish Gaelic "Bàideanach".
Once again, the Spey has burst its banks spectacularly in accordance with the latest change in the weather.
Finally the long freeze broke and tons of snow and ice broke with it.
The famous Insh Marshes, as seen from Ruthven Barracks, high on its rise above Kingussie, have once again become more of a loch for passing waterfowl.
And even if the Covid-19 lockdown had been anywhere near lifting, there would be no shinty playable at Kingussie Camanachd Club's famous Dell ground – not for the foreseeable future at least, when the thaw has done its work.
