Badenoch community publishers beat the pandemic
What do you do when your glossy, hand-distributed quarterly magazine falls due smack in the middle of global pandemic?
You break with tradition – and head for them thar digital hills.
"Crosscurrents", which for decades has been produced by volunteers from Alvie and Insh Church, based at Kincraig, has sidestepped all the problems by simply putting the latest publication on line – and very colourfully too.
"We had to go online this time," said editor Frances Wilkins. "All part of the many ways we are all adjusting to the lockdown!"
The link can be found on the Church Facebook page @AlvieInshChurch or here
"A few posters have been put up in Kincraig with QR codes," said Frances, "so that people can find the link with their phones.
"The main thing is that despite the virus, Crosscurrents is out, even if it won't be able to reach some people in care homes or older folk who aren't au fait with digital technology.
"The intention is to return to normal service by autumn - or at least Christmas."
