The Badenoch Heritage Festival returns later this month to showcase more of the amazing local heritage that the historic region has to offer.

The 2021 festival will feature a mixture of virtual and actual events for the week from next Saturday (September 18) until the final full day of celebration on September 25.

This year's festival will host 30 events celebrating Badenoch’s unique connections to landscape, Highland community and the deep roots of storytelling.

The programme includes the newly commissioned Badenoch Suite by Charlie MacKerron, storytelling, walks and cycle tours from the Badenoch

The Storylands App, fascinating talks and lots more, including an exciting archaeological dig – all for locals and visitors to experience and enjoy.

To record the history of the area and also celebrate the 300th birthday of Ruthven Barracks, DoubleTake Projections has been commissioned to

film ‘The Story of Badenoch’ on the barracks structure.

This will be premiered during the Celebrating Badenoch event with funding coming from the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Historic Environment Scotland.

The festival will culminate in a day of events to celebrate the end of the Badenoch Great Place Project.

These will take place on Saturday September 25 starting in the morning with the online webinar ‘Celebrating Badenoch’, then a Meet the App walk in the afternoon, some celebratory cake in the Iona Gallery, followed by an evening concert of traditional music, with some of Badenoch’s finest musicians.
