Weekend of activities opens the advent doors in Badenoch and Strathspey

The season is officially upon Badenoch and Strathspey after a superbly supported weekend of events from one end of the strath to the other, with tree festivals, fairs, stalls, bands, decorated window competitions, lighting-up ceremonies, carols and even free chips!

Not to mention a tireless Santa dashing around from here to there in a desperate bid not to miss any children out.

We’ll have reports and pictures in Thursday’s Strathy but as a taster here’s a look around some of the events which warmed hearts over a weekend which also escaped the brutal storms of the last few days of November.

In Grantown, Aviemore and Kingussie there were plenty of people venturing out to share lots of goodwill as they snapped up a bargain or two while enjoying traditional fare such as chestnuts and mince pies but also being treated to more exotic dishes including tartiflette outside the council offices of the Badenoch capital!

Not that the Cheese Neuk’s Lydie Bocqillon’s tartiflette lasted long - with a queue of curious foodies lining up right from the off yesterday in Kingussie.
