Badenoch and Strathspey schools return after Thursday's whiteout

The strath's pupils returned to their classrooms today after the mid-week storms forced a widespread shut-down.

At 10 this morning no Highland schools were reported closed due to the winter weather.

On the roads, Badenoch and Strathspey's 7.42am briefing confirmed a light covering of snow across the area along with widespread ice.

Roads are being treated as necessary.

Eunice's tricks: in the recent Storm Eunice there was tough-going around the strath. Even this plough had a hairy moment at Dalnavert, Kincraig, but was soon up and running again. Photo: Gordon McKenzie.

In the surrounding Inverness area, low ground roads are icy and there is an inch covering of snow on high ground roads.

Treatment is under way on all routes.

In the neighbouring Nairn district there are wet roads at lower levels with dustings of snow on higher routes.

Here, too, roads are being treated as necessary.
