Wonderful work, these workshops!
Wonderful work, these workshops!

Hi-ho, hi-ho, it’s off to work we go!

With the Badenoch and Strathspey Music Festival approaching, it was time this week to get down to some serious work in the strath.

The job was done with the help of Fischy Music, who conducted proceedings with all primary 6 &7’s in the area.

Said festival chairman Hilary Brown: “We have been fortunate in securing a grant for £3000 from Awards for All to enable us to offer this opportunity to all the schools.”

Fischy Music are working with the youngsters on songs which focus on personal social development and, in particular, on their transition from primary to secondary school.

The schools worked together in their school clusters (ie Grantown and Kingussie), giving the pupils the chance to meet and work with each other before moving on to secondary.

“It is an exciting opportunity for pupils to meet and work with each other and the Fischy Music team,” said Mrs Brown.

“Teachers and support staff also get the opportunity work with Fischy Music at a twilight course in Carrbridge Primary.”
