A drinking session involving two women and an ex-partner erupted into violence which lasted up to 30 minutes.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that 40 year old Erin Stuart was socialising with her ex-partner and a friend on December 15, last year in her home at Sluggan Drive in Aviemore.

The court heard that Stuart became abusive and aggressive towards her ex-partner and began pushing him and striking on the body which he said lasted almost half an hour.

Sheriff Robert Frazer was told that he managed to call the police on a mobile phone and was heard to be shouting that he needed help.

Defence solicitor Natalie Paterson said that it was her client's first offence and she did not expect to see her in court again.

"She was in a relationship for about four months and he lived with her after presenting himself as homeless. She became withdrawn from her friends as a result.

"The relationship is now at an end," Ms Paterson added.

Stuart admitted to assault and threatening and abusive behaviour when she appeared at the court earlier today.

Sheriff Frazer decided to defer sentence until July 6 for good behaviour and social work involvement.
