Aviemore street residents believe flooding exacerbated by new housing development
Housebuilder Tulloch Homes has responded to allegations of planning contraventions with their development in Aviemore.
It comes after flooding in early October in Craig-na-Gower Avenue which many residents in the street believe has been exacerbated by the new nearby Bynack More development.
Resident Arthur Lay complained: “I’m still waiting for answers after sending photos demonstrating the effects of the contraventions on the houses along the Aviemore Burn.”
“The Cairngorms National Park Authority and SEPA were alerted nearly two years ago and to date have been proved to be totally incapable of dealing with the problem .
“The head of CNPA needs to take charge and put a team in place capable of dealing with this in a timely manner before Tullochs disappear from this site and leave us with the environmental and physical hazard that caused the latest flooding.”
Badenoch MSP Kate Forbes has also lent her voice to the campaign.
She said: “Mr Lay is absolutely correct to say that something needs to be put in place to deal with this, and soon.”
A spokesperson for the CNPA said they were ‘actively liaising with SEPA and the Highland Council’s flood team with Tulloch Homes on a regular basis to try and reach a satisfactory solution to this issue’.
A spokesperson for Tulloch Homes said: “We are confident in our designs and our existing approvals. However, we are aware of some concerns and are working closely with the CNPA and other stakeholders to resolve these.”
