Aviemore pipes up in a global band which is Out Of View
All Aviemore’s fans of top piper Ross Weir need to know is that he has a lot of friends he’s never met - all he knows is that their latest EP is out today.
“All You Know” is an amazing collaboration of a global band who are Out Of View of each other.
The band is the brainchild of Edinburgh musician and songwriter Dougie Bonner, who told the Strathy: “I formed this crazy online collaborative band several years ago ad it’s still going strong.
“Our latest single, Alive, demonstrates it and we hope the world will give it a play. The EP is streaming right now.”
Their story and music is both unusual and unique with eight musicians from five countries producing music remotely.
“Out of View” genuinely is an international band that has never met collectively. Formed in 2016 their music is a unique fusion of Celtic, rock and worldbeat energy incorporating traditional and contemporary instruments.
The new EP features six tracks and Bonner told the Strathy: “Your lad from Badenoch and Strathspey has gone a great job - Strathy readers should especially check out The Greenhill Dance Club, an instrumental featuring Ross’ pipes and some great fiddle work.”Bonner, former drummer with Edinburgh’s The Guilty Party, is actually now working in France. He had a song idea ‘The Last Race’ and contacted his old friend, guitarist Ian Whitehall (original guitarist with The Soup Dragons, Glasgow) living in Edinburgh and the idea and song progressed…via email. When Dougie returned briefly to Scotland he found online and made contact with Bass player Niyi Oludipe from Nigeria (living in Edinburgh), vocalist Tara-Lynn Sharrock from Melbourne, Australia (X-Factor Australia 2011 Top 6 Under 24 Girls) and Ross. Together they collaborated and released their first single. The sound has changed a little since the beginning but still has a Celtic Fusion (Worldbeat) energy incorporating traditional and contemporary instruments.
