Happy birthday, Aviemore Parkrun!
Today's Aviemore parkrun was an occasion for many celebrations, but none moreso than the event's six birthday.
Over those six years they’ve had 230 events, nearly 7000 different people have walked, jogged or run the course and more than 260 individuals have volunteered in one role or another.
Notable among those volunteers is Bill DeWitt, who on this occasion was volunteering for the 200th time.
Said race director Hilary Quick: "Aviemore parkrun is most grateful to the Cairngorm National Park Authority for the initial funding that got them off the ground, and to all participants and volunteers, who keep the weekly event so vibrant."
Today the event welcomed 93 people. As usual, a large proportion of the participants were visitors, many doing this route for the first time, with two visitors doing their first ever parkrun.
