Aviemore man told police he wanted to ‘slit his neighbour’s neck’
A man visited by police on a mental health welfare check made threats against his neighbour and an officer.
Oliver Gormley (23) said that he wanted to ‘slit his neighbour’s neck’ and ‘stab someone in the eye’ on January 6.
Fiscal depute Sophie Marshall told Sheriff Sara Matheson at Inverness Sheriff Court: “At around 6.10pm police were contacted by NHS24 for a mental health welfare check.
“When police attended the locus Gormley presented in a calm and controlled manner.
“He said his neighbour was bothering him and he wanted to slit his throat.
“He looked at a pocket pen and said he wanted to stab someone in the eye. He then looked at the officer and said ‘or maybe you’.
“His eyes darted between the pen and the police officer.”
Gormley, of Corrour Road, Aviemore, was arrested.
He pleaded guilty to behaving in a threatening or abusive manner.
Sheriff Matheson ordered him to carry out 60 hours of unpaid work as an alternative to a fine.
