The new Aviemore Adventurer has hit the road running.

The new dedicated bus link connects Aviemore and Cairngorm Mountain on a much more frequent basis including the weekends.

Operators Stagecoach have said that the early feedback has been very positive since the service – which sports its own special livery – started running on Monday May 22.

David Beaton, managing director of Stagecoach North Scotland said: “We’re delighted with the first week of service for the Aviemore Adventurer.

“We’ve had some great feedback so far and around 300 passenger journeys over the weekend. “

He added: “We’re looking forward to welcoming more people to Aviemore in the coming weeks and months creating more sustainable travel for the area.”

The number 30 ‘Aviemore Adventurer’ is proving popular with the outdoor types because it has lockers for bikes and a wide range of outdoor equipment.

The bus operates up to an hourly shuttle service at peak times.

The first departure from Aviemore rail station leaves at 5.45am and terminates at Glenmore, but the next service, running from the transport hub outside Aviemore Station, leaves the village at 7.07am and travels all the way up to Cairngorm Mountain, arriving at 7.28am.

The last service leaves from Aviemore at 5.45pm.

There are regular return services throughout each weekday and also over the weekends.

In the winter months there will be ski facilities for locals and visitors alike on the new bus but obviously much will depend on how viable the service proves over the summer and autumn seasons.
