An Abernethy reserve spokesperson said: "One of our volunteers had set up her own personal camera trap on a tree in the forest hoping to maybe catch pictures of pine marten or anything else that was passing by.

"When she returned to check if she had caught any footage, the camera trap was gone.

"She has chosen to give six months of her time to the forest to share it with anyone who wants to visit, and it would be amazing if a way could be found to give her back her camera trap."

The RSPB has said any information will gratefully received, and no questions asked.
