Another delay to completion of controversial Aviemore junction redesign
Highland Council has said roadworks at one of Aviemore’s busiest traffic spots are now due to be completed early next month.
There has been huge frustration over on-going delays to the redesign of the Dalfaber Drive and Grampian Road junction.
Work had been due for completion midsummer last year.
A council spokeswoman told the Strathy: “The signals contractor has been in contact and the works will be completed by the end of Friday 5 May.”
There had been hopes that the work will be concluded by the end of this week.
Four way traffic lights are being introduced as well as a filter lane to turn onto Dalfaber Drive and widening of footpaths along with new road markings.
The upgrade was detailed in summer 2021 as part of the improved access to the Badenoch and Strathspey Community Hospital in Dalfaber, with backers saying it was identified as a priority as part of the Active Aviemore consultation.
The project is being taken forward by Highland Council and Sustrans and delivered by Pat Munro Construction Ltd.
