Green algae on Loch Garten

Concern has been raised about levels of algal growth on Loch Garten.

Aviemore & Spey Valley Community Issues Forum carried a post at the weekend which warned: "Algae levels pretty bad at Loch Garten this morning!"

Whether it was blue-green algae was not known but observers trusted dog owners would not be allowing their pets into the water until the all-clear was confirmed.

Today a Highland Council spokesperson told the Strathy: "Our environmental health service is looking into this and will get back to us as soon as they can."
